Official Game Thread: Hawks at Pistons

Just an ugly game in every aspect.

Awful defense, awful passing, awful offense

Sap was pretty much the only stater who showed up

Looked like Dwight checked out of this one early. I don't know if it was because the lack of touches or what

Dennis was bad on both ends tonight.

Yea just need to move on to the next one. What a pathetic effort on both ends tonight

Well this game sucked. I think the team had a hard time after we traded off Mo Williams. It was too much to ask to play this game after losing him.

Knicks beat Boston, 76ers beat Toronto.

FTFY. This is a real issue. Dennis can be good at one thing, he can't be good at both things. He's too slight of a build to work hard on both ends of the floor. He has to be great offensively every night. That's hard to do.

At least it wasn't a 36 point beat down like last time.

Does it really matter? When you get blown out by Detroit twice that is all you need to know the team is bad.

i understand where you're coming from though. Sometimes you gotta take what you can get. lol

Some nights you just might as well play the kids a million minutes. Believe last night was quite the example. Would ask what is it about the Pistons but its really not them, we have to show up to begin with.

Even after 3 or 4 minutes I knew it was bad news.  You could see that we had that look of 'i've forgotten how to play basketball'.  When Sap went to the bench with 2 fouls the game was over.

This is still majority a wing a problem.   I'm not sure we took the ball inside the 3 point line for the first 5 minutes of the game.  Just passed it back and forth.  You can blame Dennis for some of it but when the guys you pass the ball to immediately freak out when someone plays D on them and just passes the ball back there isn't a lot to do other than call every play for Sap.  Which is what we started doing until he went out.

Baze/Thabo is not the answer as starters.   Tim/Thabo is an improvement but i'm not even sure that moves the needle that far.   Lou Williams can't get here soon enough.  I don't care how bad his defense is at this point.

Man, will y'all get outta the way!  Had a good beefstew brewin' between @Lurker and @Hotlanta1981

Also, Lurk you ran me outta chat with your soothsaying.  I think you both should be bannt. Lastly, Mace calling Spud2 'darling' seemed fitting somehow.

On the game, um, half the team probably was in the casinos in Canadia (they're not called 'Canadans') the night before the game.

Just an extra tidbit about scoring in the post for us. Please don't just assume I am a fan of a pompous jerk but thought the comment by Willis is quite revealing.

0.72 points per possession on post ups. That ranks 95th out of 110 players with at least 20 possessions per http://NBA.com/stats

Yeah, we don't have enough wings that can take it off the dribble to the hole.  That's what you need when a team plays you up close and aggressively on defense like Detroit did.  We passed when we should've been burning them off the dribble.

THJr had some nice drives because of it but he's the only one with the talent to take advantage of those situations on the wing.  Dennis could've been a little more aggressive in this situation too.

Just face it the Hawks are never going to be able to compete with bottom feeders like Detroit and Minnesota, they can only compete with top tier teams. This is totally a reflection of poor coaching that can't get players motivated to play garbage teams.

There's two posters in this thread that should be given time outs or suspended for what they posted. This is a family friendly site and that kind of stuff is not cool.

They don't need anyone encouraging them to keep fighting either @kg01 that stuff was crude and a little threatening, no need for that ever on this site.

Oh I see

OK fine
