Young needs to get stronger. His defense needs a lot of work. The suspect shot selection Young showed late last season for Oklahoma isn’t likely to go over well with his Hawks teammates and coach Lloyd Pierce. 

But Pierce said his philosophy is to wait until later to address Young’s shortcomings . For now, Pierce said he’ll let Young loose during summer league play beginning next week in Utah and let him showcase the talent that made him a star for the Sooners. 

“I think one of the mistakes I’ve seen in the past is you already know what you want to help (rookies) with and you go right to that immediately, so they are dealing with their failures as opposed to just addressing who they are,” Pierce said. “Let Trae play. Give him the ball. Let him play in pick-and-roll, let him find his teammates. He’s done that his entire career. Let him do that.

Awesome ?I can’t wait to get a look at our squad ready to shoot 4 pointers and off balance ones that nobody ever has in history. ? I kid I kid it should be fun but I’m hoping Trae takes it nice and slow with the stats...don’t show the people the repertoire in summer league. I wanna see that on opening night vs the Mavs lol or whoever..the Mavs...

 

ps looking forward to seeing the other big names as well like jjj mentioned in the title and tough nosed Jevon..also Spurs Walker IV and that poo poo ? head Grayson Allen. I hate that guy! (I can say that now cuz we didn’t get that whiny ? baby).

Guess I will get to watch two of the games - - I can't get NBATV.

Expecting Trae to start and Junior Robinson to come in for relief!  Omari Spellman should get a lot of time but Kevin Huerter will still be out with hand surgery.  His time will come later.

Then, coming next week, I believe the free agent phase begins.  Hurry up and wait.  Hawks plan to sit on the sidelines and wait and see what happens.  Maybe someone hurting with too much $$$ above the cap will come to us and offer us a deal we just can't turn down.

If not, our plan is to pick up whoever is left out.  These players usually come with a chip on their shoulder because they are mad and hurt because they were passed over.
