Well can't be too many players because most have been out the past couple of weeks.  Maybe he's referencing Gallo and the other mid (low value) vets? 

Thinking he can't be too upset with Hunter and Cam.  Hunter is injured.  Cam has shown massive improvement with increase in playing time, but that coincides with increasing his trade value so it is a double edged sword.

Here's the thing...

I would trade Cam and Hunter with Bogi for PG13... but there's a reason for that.  It makes us better.   However, listening to guys jump up and down about trading for guys that doesn't make us any better... guys that we believe will step their game up when they come here.   Guys who are not even allstar material is more evidence that there's a lot of people who shouldn't be listened to...

We're on the same page.  Though, I disagree with the amount we are financing for PG13.  Not because it's too much, and it most certainly is, but because of the timing of it.  If we were better built and closer to contending, I might consider Cam or Hunter + Bogi.  But not both and certainly not with what's leftover on this squad.

You can't convince me that the best Cam/Hunter/Bogi returns is PG13.

I have seen enough of Bogi.  I don't dislike him, but he's a 4th option IMO.  If he could maintain consistency, he's a good 3rd option.  I'm not interested in hearing about injuries either.  Sacramento fans were saying the same thing about him before we got him.  He's just a streaky shooter that can get really hot.  Literally did just that his first game back - 0-13, then hits like 3 straight bangers? 

I like his personality and his timely shots, but at the end of the day he's too inconsistent to be leaning on as a 3rd option.  I'd hope that he could change my mind.

I'm going to guess that there aren't any big moves coming and if we get the team healthy we will start playing well again.   And the keys to our success will be the same as last year and that's Bogi and JC and Gallo in a limited role off the bench.   

But we have to have Bogi and JC and ideally at least one of Cam/Hunter.   

I'm not so much "doom and gloom" let's trade everybody.  I'm looking at this thing like Java...lol.  Platform independent, you can run it on anything.  You can take my point of view and apply it to ANY team.  There's always room for improvement.  Even contenders/champions make adjustments.  There are adjustments I would have made to this team before the season even started - even in the middle of our playoff run if I could have.

Firing the coach, mortgaging the rookies, and even a dramatic shift in the offense is all knee-jerk type stuff.  I believe that once we get healthy, we will be fine and am 100% against shaking up the team.  I want to be BETTER than fine though.  I want a perennial contender for many moons to come.  We can't maintain that kind of status without a legit #2.  We may have that guy on the team, but in the mean time we need adjustments to maintain a place in the upper-middle of the pack - which is where I see a healthy Hawks team.

All of this changes if Bogi can stay consistent, Cam truly takes a step forward, and/or Hunter picks his stride back up...but again, what do we do in the mean time?

Right!?  And how can you question our GM who is far more connected to the game than any of us?  He's seeing problems with effort and consistency.  He's going to address it and rightfully so.

Allen Iverson, the best small guard EVER in the NBA couldn't win a chip by himself.  Trae needs help, SUPERSTAR help, not no piece mill stuff.  Thats been tried.

The thing about Cam is he has amazing physical tools on both sides of the court.   But what we've seen, granted in small samples, is that on open threes with his feet set he is lights out.   When he becomes a  more disciplined player he has to potential to be one of the best shooters in the league in addition to being an excellent defender and finisher at the rim.   Even if the last one doesn't happen.  He could be the best 3&D guy in the NBA.

Nothing i've seen from him has me ready to give up after 100 games.

Any knowledgeable basketball fan is aware that Trae Young needs help.  Does that diminish Trae Young? That's not what you originally said. You said the best small guard ever.  When you look at Zeek's scoring facilitating and defense (which wasn't all that, but was better than Iverson), he is probably considered the best small guard.

Now I don't know about these guards before the 80's...lol

 

Edit: Trae's prototype is closer to Zeek than Iverson if you ask me.  Iverson was not the facilitator Trae is.  Trae is a better scorer than Zeek.  Dude's just generational.

Heck, I meant to keep saying small guard.  Its questionable about being the best scoring guard ever because of Kobe and Jordan. Good catch on me saying that.  As far as Trae goes, his mentality is more Iverson than Isiah because Isiah was more a facilitator FIRST and scorer second.  Thomas COULD have scored more than 19 points a game, but that wasn't his style.

Trae's career average TS% is .576% and that is with big weight on his dismal first half of his rookie season (basically 1/7 of Trae's total career).

Trae's career high is 29.6 points on 20.8 FGA

Iverson's career high is 31.4 points on 27.8 FGA

Soooo that is an extra 1.8 points on an extra 7 shots.  Wow.  So impressive.
