The biggest argument I had for paying him was the fact that he's a guy that's improved on multiple facets of his game from his rookie year on.  Gotta pay guys that develop like that on your watch.

He's rewarded them by taking his game up even another notch.  Didn't rest on his laurels after getting 'the bag'.  I'm a big fan of this dude.

Watching John grow as a complete player and vocal leader at the ripe "old" age of 24 should encourage everyone to give the other young guys time to develop. None of the guys the Hawks drafted over the past few seasons are finished products yet. Patience.

Patience is important, but John is a truly special case. Not every young player can improve the way JC has since day 1.

Defense and playmaking were probably his biggest flaws and he has just attacked them with a vengeance the past two off seasons.  A lot if it is IQ, but also being humble enough to put the work in consistently.

Some young players are not willing to humble themselves and take a step back to really address areas of improvement. JC was not a high recruit or high draft pick. He never had an overblown idea of his ability as a player/prospect. He knew he had to evolve in order to survive in this league. Some guys, even on our team, don't have that same drive and discipline and it shows up in their play.

Old age will rob you of lots of memory.  This being said, I don't recall my posting a lot of bad stuff about any Hawk player.  When they play for Atlanta, I look for the positive that is there.
