He continues to work on his body in particular his core and just continue to get a lot better, sky is the limit. That's what shocked me when he first came back. He wasn't the thin, lanky guy that went out in February. He was visibly larger and taller than what he was. The fact he was able to to get stronger while maintaining the quickness to create havoc on defense like he did when he was much slimmer is amazing. With him playing the way he did in the biggest game of the season, the potential is through the roof. I hate to even use the word potential at this point because he is a core piece of this team moving forward.
Popular Post Cwell
I'm sorry, i'm not holding on to old narratives and struggles that Cam had while playing under Lloyd Pierce. Cam played in 4 games this series, on the biggest stage, and was efficient in each one. He looked much better in the 1 or 2 games he played under Nate when Pierce was having his child earlier in the season. It's unfair to hold his play under Pierce against him while forgetting Bogi was booty butt cheeks under Pierce as well. Cam said Nate told him to "just play your game", and that he hasn't been told that in so long. That's a huge issue right there. I'm just not sold on Bogi as the starting SG. His 3 point shooting late in the season was nice, but he doesn't offer much else to warrant being that guy.

Harden was pretty out of shape coming to the Nets. Bigger than usual. He slimmed down some but suffered a nagging hamstring injury. Many believe it was due to him not taking care of his body during the offseason. Edited July 4, 2021 by DawnOfThemBirds
Premium Member Popular Post JayBirdHawk Posted July 4, 2021 Premium Member Popular Post Report Share Posted July 4, 2021 Quote Cam Reddish is the perfect example of this. In The Athletic’s story on the firing of Lloyd Pierce, Reddish was one of the key players who didn’t have a strong relationship with Pierce. Back in March, there were several people inside the organization who felt like Reddish’s potential was the highest on the team — even higher than Young’s — and that Pierce’s coaching was holding him back. Reddish played in only three games under McMillan after sitting out the past four months with Achilles soreness. Without any ramp-up at all, in the middle of the Eastern Conference finals, that talent was on display. He was the same defensive pest we saw in his rookie season and before he got hurt this year, and his confidence offensively shined. He finished with six 3s off the bench in Game 6, a franchise-high for a non-starter. There was optimism that a new voice for Reddish was going to unlock the talent the Hawks saw when they drafted him 10th overall. We saw that in these past three games. “I really took to Cam when I first got here,” McMillan said. “He was a kid that I talked to early and was really wanting to coach him. I see a lot of Paul George in Cam — his length, his ability to defend. Working on his offensive game, (on Saturday) he shot the ball well, shooting the 3, as well as putting the ball on the floor getting to the basket. Kind of the makeup is really similar. He showed that he has a lot of potential. So that’s a talented player.” McMillan coached George while in Indiana, so the comparison is one that would be familiar to him. For only coaching Reddish in three games, it speaks volumes that McMillan feels that way. In a not-so-subtle way, Reddish spoke about what McMillan has meant to him since joining the Hawks in the offseason. “We kind of had a connection when I first met him,” Reddish said. “He just told me to just play my game. It felt good to just feel like he was on my side. I’m always going to have his back for sure. Good dude, great relationship.” Reddish said it was an honor that McMillan compared him to George and said, “Coach, thank you if you’re watching (the Zoom press conference).” He said he just wants to be himself, though, and wants to get back into the gym so he can just be called “Cam Reddish” next time. This is an important offseason for Reddish after the high hopes the organization had coming into the season. During minicamp, training camp, and the trip the team took to Los Angeles for some pickup games, Reddish’s name was the one who came up most often for being the most impressive. https://theathletic.com/2688388/2021/07/04/the-hawks-season-is-over-its-just-the-beginning-of-a-special-ride/?amp#click=https://t.co/jkeTlh0XsG

When you're body is more tired it is likely to break down. That's scientific. Edited July 4, 2021 by marco102

Because to me, you win with talented wings in the NBA these days. Unless there's an enticing trade, I'd be happy with making some small tweaks and running it back for now at least. Backup PG, perhaps a big oaf for a backup big, bring back Collins, drop the interim tag for Nate (which we know there's essentially a 99.9% chance of), etc. I would still go Young/Bogdanovic/Hunter/Collins/Capela as the starting lineup if so. The idea of bringing Reddish off the bench first for Bogdanovic is a good one. After you hopefully get a healthy year for all three of Reddish/Hunter/Huerter, that's where you'll have to make a hard choice. Bye Huerter..Easy choice..

Popular Post TheNorthCydeRises
This is the highlight reel I was waiting on. The one that shows all of his stat producing possessions on offense and defense. Despite the loss, Cam's play in the 2nd half have put an extra ray of sunshine on next season. The big thing I saw was his footwork on his jumper. I believe it was @thecampster who did an extensive breakdown of this earlier in the season, when examining when Cam makes and misses jumpers. It was mainly concentrated toward how he set his feet, and if he was squared up to the basket. His footwork looked pretty good last night. His handles are still loose, so that needs work still. But the progression was nice to see, because I don't thnk he's ever had a game in his career ( even in college ) where he's made 6 threes. And definitely not 6 out of 7. He was ultra confident in his shot. If we run it back, I want to see if Cam + Hunter + Capela and Collins on the back end, turns us into the #1 defense in the league. Cam and Hunter MUST become better rebounders, for us to achieve this. But it will be great to see if our two "3 and D" guys can transform this team into one no one wants to face next year. 8

It's a common logical fallacy, and one you're currently employing in your argument. Injuries happen, and you cant necessary attribute his hamstring injury to his conditioning. Biomechanical forces caused his hamstring pull, and they are not totally preventable.

This is my main ding against him. Not even just finishing through contact, but knowing when not to dribble in to contact and instead when to pull up for a clean look. Decision making is still raw in that regard. Kevin is a great example, he is nowhere near as skilled as Cam is but he knows how to put the ball on the floor and search for his shot in traffic and get off a clean look. Cam sees two defenders in the lane and thinks it's an invitation to go over them. He gets sent back or a charge most of the time. I hold my breathe when attacks in the half court. That's small stuff that he can clean up though. Takes live reps to learn better.

Dre is still more consistent and better at finding his own shot. Cam is the more explosive scorer and defender. Streaky, but he can really heat up and make impact plays on both ends. Dre is the guy you need next to our shooters because they can run hot and cold, and he typically is just consistent and reliable (pre injury). He showed on good nights he can hang a 30 piece on you and make it look easy. Cam's offense comes and goes, but when it's on, it's a game changer. He can go off. He needs to tighten his handle and work on decision making when driving, maybe take lessons from Dre who never seems to take a bad shot. Cam's energy also seems more infectious. I was in the building when he went off against the Nets. You could feel them momentum and his confidence building. It was an avalanche. Same thing happened last night. You need those guys too. They can give you a lift. I am excited to see them play significant minutes together. I think those guys have a really close relationship off the court and I can’t wait to see that chemistry translate on the court. Even though they have a lot of similar attributes, their games compliment each other very well.
Premium Member Sothron Posted July 6, 2021 Premium Member Report Share Posted July 6, 2021 So is Cam now 6'10" in shoes? I know this was discussed somewhere here. He looks to be 6'10" out there. He also looks to be about 230 to 240 as well. He definitely hit the weight bench. Love it. He looked like a completely different player now that the fraud coach is gone.
