Kevin is a more valuable archetype in today's NBA. Offensive minded centers are valuable but you have to be a superstar offensively to overcome your defensive lacking value as a big. I talked about this with JC last year till he improved vastly on that end. The bigger the man, the more important defense is. 

I actually rather Cam value wise over Kev long term but not everyone sees it that way or even close.

And no Turner is not a high level defender.  Just blocks shots.

Yeah I get it and hes gone very reasonable contract but just feels like the way the hawks have a logjam at wing they could move him for a good player like sabonis. I would kill to have sabonis and simmons in our frontcourt if possible

McCullum has 2 years left after this season $33.3 and $38.5 million. Will the hawks be willing to got into the tax this season?

Id rather hold out for KAT.  Trae/Kat and 3 elite wing defenders.....

On Kev and Cam and how they are seen around the league:

As we saw when Trae is out, Kev, Cam and even Bogi's numbers typically go up. With all the great things Trae brings, he does leave the wings out to dry on many offensive sets. The pick n roll game favors the bigs as they set the majority of the picks. Take Trae out of the game and its not necessarily better/winning basketball but it does diversify the offense. 

Teams see Kev/Cam as > Bogi as a total player. Both are better individual defenders (even if they have room to grow on team/help defense). Both are more athletic, rebound better, cherry pick less. Kevin is probably the 3rd best passer on the team behind Trae/Coop. He's better than Lou Will, better than D. Wright. Teams see both Kev, Cam as a legit 3rd option. More ISO heavy teams prefer Cam, more team oriented teams want Kev.  Check that, everyone wants Cam and his potential. Most everyone wants Kev but those that want Kev may want him more. The biggest thing Kevin brings is when Trae is out of control or the team is starting to dive, Kev makes defensive impact plays that turn the momentum or slows the offense down and gets the team back to running sets.  He's a get everyone on the same page guy. It goes unnoticed a lot but its great team basketball. Other teams notice and want him for that. It more than a glue guy thing, its a total buy in settle the ship player thing. He keeps the team on track.

The only negative with Kev is the new contract is hard to contract match. The poison pill provision with Kevin adds a wrinkle. Kev's new average annual salary is $16,250,000 and his current salary is $4,253,357 meaning for salary matching purposes the Hawks have to take back based off the average of $10 million+. This make sit difficult to trade Kevin without going into the LT.

With Cam, to get back similar talent, you don't get Cam salary back. There aren't a lot of $4 million per year players out there that do what Cam does or what he'll be able to do.

Based on what's been the priority. I don't know yet. They were for sure willing to before the regular season begin. They want to be EC contenders and build from there but they aren't even a playin team right now. I don't believe that's a deal Atlanta will do but it's a significant offer.

Current year + average of salary of new contract = salary for purposes of salary matching in trades.....and you're welcome!

FYI, Both Cam and Huerter are seen as higher value right now than Hunter due to his health concerns. Teams do not want to take the risk of trading for Hunter and having to pay him based on the limited sample when they don't know where his health will be long term.  Expect Hunter to stay with the Hawks for better or for worse.

There is one team that really really likes Hunter and wants to see him healthy that has a significant asset Atlanta covets. No telling if anything happens but just something to keep an eye on.

Hunter is like the hot girl at the party with tons of drama and a crazy ex boyfriend. Man she's beautiful and you'd like to take a run at that but you have to ask yourself if its worth the trip to the emergency room.

He's got 15 games but if he plays well why would we trade him for 'asset'

and that's the rub really. Healthy Hunter is really valuable. He's a championship piece. Pay him what he could be worth/will command and he rides the bench icing his knees and he's the weight around a team's neck. If healthy, he's not going anywhere. Not healthy and the only teams taking him are rebuilding teams willing to wait on his knees to heal or needing someone to sell tickets on.
