My guy has talked around NBA circles of late

I've wanted Sabonis on the Hawks since I saw him in college. He's such a great big man passer, a good to great mid range shooter, a good rebounder and has low post moves. The only thing he doesn't do well is block shots, shoot threes or defend the PNR that well. 

If we got him then I have to think Capela or JC is gone in another trade. Sabonis at center means JC stays and Capela is out. Sabonis at PF with Capela means JC is out. 

I would rather go big and try to get KAT personally. That might be a trade that needs to happen in the offseason though when Capela can be moved.

I really do think Trae and KAT playing together with a healthy Hawks team around them could win a chip. And I know who that team is that wants Hunter that @NBASupesis mentioning. Pretty much everything I've seen from supes and @thecampster is matching with my source. JC is definitely frustrated with the team but he hasn't asked for a trade. Everyone but Trae is on the trade block. We have too many guys on the block at this point not to make a trade before the deadline.

Pretty high. This isn't like the center hunt a couple of years ago. We gotta find someone that wants to meet us where we are at.

I will say a healthy Hunter opens up a trade door that might be closed.

The Kevin Huerter deals are probably the most likely. 

If Lou gets interest from the Lakers which could have some open spots, I expect him to be an option Atlanta looks to trade for cap space. Chances are, the reason why a trade is a big deal is because more than likely, it will take us over the LT. So any trade we make has to be significant. Not just Meh. 

Way more buyers out there than sellers.

Both Huerter offers are significant for different reasons why I mentioned it.

I'm not sure McC is a better player than Heurter overall.  When you factor in salaries, it makes that deal taste like a day-old grilled cheese sandwich.

Minny isn't trading Kat. They are actually trying to trade for Simmons to make Kat, Ant and Simmons as their big three.

I'd do this trade every day and twice on Sundays.  

Philly gets much better.  The Hawks get much better AND Houston gets a ton of salary relief. 

Would Houston be willing to give up Sengun? I thought he was playing well for them. 

Edit - I don't know if Philly gets much better. Not sure how good John Wall is now.. lol...they would improve their cap situation though.

I would take this deal.  I've thought a lot more about how Simmons would fit into our offense and I don't think it would be a huge issue.  Won't go into details on why I think that, but as far as this deal goes, why would Philly even want to do this?  Do they really think John Wall and Bogi is going to improve their team much?  I don't see it but would be fine with this.  I love Cooper but I'd be okay parting with him.

You hold Wall for the year and then trade him in a salary dump to a team wanting an expiring in the offseason. Wall opts in next season but for a rebuilding team, its a way to absorb 1 year salary to dump long contracts.  Philly does it to be done with the Ben saga and to get out from the cap crushing Harris contract. Basically Philly is able to flip the Simmons/Harris contracts for Bogi + 2x 20 mil players next year.

Houston does it for picks, to waive Gallo at the end of the season for only a $5million hit and go free agent shopping.
