Doubt he’d want to leave their situation for our cluster f***…even if they lose Harden. Would be nice though. I believe a Trae/Embiid pairing wins a chip. Yeah i gotta agree. Embiid may actually rather stay in place with Maxey and Tobias then hope to use harden salary for a deeper roster assuming Hardens contract coming off the books give them some kind of cap relief if he leaves. What’s the truth ? Contract extensions typically throw cold water on any trade rumors concerning a player, but ESPN's Bobby Marks notes Turner's new deal, which will pay him $21 million for the 2023-24 season and $20 million for 2024-25, leaves him still eligible to be traded by the NBA's Feb. 9 trade deadline. The deal still makes trading for Turner more difficult and expensive, so it's more likely the Pacers continue to see him as a member of their core... Because while that line from one of the league’s most plugged-in insiders would naturally lead one to believe that this extension fully closes the door on a trade for now, it would appear based on both my reading of Larry Coon’s CBA FAQ and the tweets below from two of the NBA media’s leading salary cap experts, Turner is still at least legally trade eligible in much the same Bojan Bogdanovic is after extending with the Pistons earlier this season. This is because Turner’s extension is fewer than three years, and because his salary on the extension is declining in value rather than increasing (by virtue of the Pacers frontloading his raise this year with their available cap space). 2
Premium Member akay Posted January 30, 2023 Premium Member Report Share Posted January 30, 2023 If our new FO isn't reactionary, do we expect no changes to happen at the deadline even if we win out until then? I feel like previously trades weren't made since we usually go streaking around this time

The summer will be much better.

He feels he has done a really good job keeping this team in the playoff hunt with all the turmoil in the front office, the refusal to pay the LT and being forced to play guys he doesn't want to play as regular rotation players. Hint: he's talking about our young guys not named OO and A. Holiday. He thinks he has grown AJ, OO and even Jalen and no one gives him credit for it. He also has added more wrinkles in the offense to try and diversify the offense and fans aren't giving him the credit for it. He did not want to lose Gallo and Kevin and he's making hash out of the scraps the FO gave him because Ressler won't pay the LT. Nate feels he has done a really good job this year and instead of getting flowers he's getting non stop negativity and the fans wanting him gone. He knows the FO wants to move on from in the off season. Nate feels he even has gotten through to Trae about Trae playing defense and he is actually playing defense for the last month and a half. Our three man think tank of Nick Ressler, Landry Fields and Korver are split amongst who they want as the next HC. D'antoni, Snyder, Atkinson and Udoka are the leading candidates but they also are giving serious thought about hiring a younger assistant to try and fit better with our team. The FO definitely feels that Nate is far too out of touch with the roster and his coaching style is too old school. The FO wants us to run more and get out in transition more and lead to more three point shots. DJM and Trae are determined to make things work out in Atlanta. DJM wants to stay in Atlanta long term but he wants to see what the team does in the offseason. Trae is all in on Atlanta. All this talk about Trae going to LA or wherever is simply absurd. FO is determined to make the best team possible AROUND Trae. charles lee will be the next head coach of the hawks. remember this post

Moderators macdaddy Posted January 31, 2023 Moderators Report Share Posted January 31, 2023 I"m looking around the league and just don't see any deals that are going to really help us this year. The best we can hope for is good health. If we're lucky a good shooter becomes available to rent.

Premium Member Popular Post Sothron Posted January 31, 2023 Premium Member Popular Post Report Share Posted January 31, 2023 If @NBASupes and @thecampster want to chime in on what I posted below please feel free. I got this from two sources in the Hawks so I feel comfortable enough to share it with their blessing. Got a more detailed update today from hawks sources. Basically they think the mood has shifted in the FO about JC. Now they want to keep him at least through the summer and see if they can get a big name back in a trade or just keep him. Fields is correctly telling teams they view JC as a positive asset and they are not going to salary dump him like they did with Huerter. They have reached out to Chicago about Caruso but the price was too high. Same with the Pacers on TJ McConnell. The problem is both compensation and in trying to get salaries off our books so we don't pay the LT this season. It sounds like PHX has backed off the big trade. There's still a chance of it happening but it sounded like it was actually closer to happening once Ayton could be traded than it is now. The reason why is because PHX and other teams are scared of Bogi's knee and his health. Nick Ressler and the FO are in fact trying to convince Tony Ressler to pay the LT next season so they can keep this team together and use the MLE to try and improve the roster. The FO thinks if they keep JC and Harden does walk to Houston and Embiid wants out that we could offer Philly a good trade package for Embiid. JC and Capela would be in the trade offer. If that doesn't happen they still feel they can move JC and Capela either together or in separate deals to get a better team in the offseason. The FO wants OO to start at center next season unless they upgrade at the center position. There has been more quiet talk about seeing what value Trae would have around the league but Nick Ressler will never trade him unless Trae asks to be traded. And that's not happening. The FO is hoping Nate retires so they are off the hook on his contract in the offseason. It sounds 100% that Nate is going to retire at the end of the season. He is fed up dealing with Trae, the fans, the media and the FO situation. They want to make a big name hire to impress the fans, media and the team with how serious they are about competing for a title. They also feel convincing Tony to pay the LT will go a long way to getting a better coach in the offseason as well as what quality players they could get with the MLE. The next coach will be asked to be more higher in pace, take more three's and be more "relatable" to the younger players. I was told D'antoni is basically rubbing his hands praying he gets the job offer. Synder, Atkinson, Udoka are the other big names. They are looking at young assistant coaches but the feeling is if they want to make a big hire you can't do that with a young assistant coach. KAT is still in play in the offseason if the Embiid situation falls through. The FO really wants to add a third star around Trae and DJM and they know the only place for that to happen is at either center of power forward. Hunter's skill set is too valuable to trade so he's not going anywhere. The FO is really looking hard at possible center and PF upgrades to the roster. They like JC and Capela but feel one of them can go (at least) to make an upgrade to the front court. 5
