Trae's not in the all star game and will probably not get all NBA and the only thing folks can find to justify is low FG%.  And some around here want him heaving full court shots for no reason.

Really?  that's the only reason he's not getting selected?    Has nothing to do with Trae being perceived around the league as a selfish coach killing douchebag?

AD voice ...

Coach killer?  Come on, Kamshakes, that's over the line.  At worst, he refused to give some autographs.

They don't get it but I know what you mean. It's these little freaking things.

Right.  Where I come from if someone says to you " hey there's this little thing you could be doing and it will improve our chances of winning, but only by a little bit" you don't hesitate, you do it because any improvement in your chances of winning is worth it when all you care about is winning.

KG how much would you charge to follow me around all day and contradict everything I say how AD would?   For one day I would really enjoy that.  2 days and I would murder suicide the both of us.

You freaking get it! I think it's because you aren't a Hawk fan, more of a Trae fan. You can see him more clearly. I was like that with Freddy Adu who I loved and followed everywhere he went. I remember saying, Freddy joins Aris, Supes joins Aris too.

But it's hard for Hawk Trae fans to see it because we want success so bad and he's our best chance at it so we look the other way when BS comes and blames others because they are simply more replaceable than Trae is.

We already had this discussion and pretty sure i posted examples but holding the ball and not registering a FGA attempt on a desperation heave happens in most NBA games.   I guess you can only notice when Trae does it but i don't know why.

Lamelo doesn't do it.  There's this guy Steph Curry, maybe you've heard of him, who also doesn't do it.  But why would we follow that guy's example?  What has he ever accomplished?

And I really don't care what the rest of the NBA does.  I know what Trae SHOULD be doing.   Are all those other NBA players also statistically the best long range shooter in the NBA?  No, that's only Trae.

steph makes several of those shots each year.  You telling me that Trae isn't capable?  Heck, he made one right after the buzzer the other night.    Trae can't afford to play like eveyrone else.   There are things on the court that everyone else is doing that Trae can't do at all.   Trae needs to emphasize the areas of the game where he has an advantage.  One of those would be long distance buzzer beating heaves.  But he's too selfish and doesn't care enough about winning to do it.

You wouldn't last a day.   You have no clue how annoying I can be.  Just ask your new fan, he'll tell you.

Nothing like coming with an agenda that didn't even happen.  Let me save you the trouble.  Trae Young with a missed half court shot at the end of the 3rd.    I guess he cared about winning this one.

Good theory.  I personally think it has more to do with ATL fans don't know what it takes to win and have never followed a winning team.  I have the luxury of having been a die hard Bulls fan living in Chicago during the Jordan era so I know firsthand what it takes to win.  Sure, the Hawks don't have MJ, but MJ was MJ not just because he was more talented than everyone, but because he worked harder and wanted it more than anyone.   Those Bulls teams did everything they could to win and busted their asses on every possession.

ATL fans don't have the frame of reference so they don't know when their watching a sub-championship effort on a night to night basis.  I do.    After all these years i can definitely say that so far Trae is not a winner, he's a loser player. He shows it night in and night out with his sub par effort in many aspects of the game and his stat driven play.

He needs to wake up, grow up, and start LEADING his team by example the right way and you'll see how much that rubs off on the rest of the players.

The biggest issue with last year's team was they couldn't get an easy basket when they needed it and it killed their offensive value which was top 3 in the NBA but when it matter, bottom half of the league.

This year, they just can't get an easy basket at all. Tonight they did more than usual but Charlotte doesn't play much defense. The biggest issue is Capela. As much of a strength he is, Atlanta runs the damn offense through him, Trae and DJ use the heck out of his screens. You gotta be more of an elite offensive threat if you getting used this damn much. I didn't think DJ played bad tonight, but he wasn't good either. It was a rough night. They attacked mismatches like no other and put pressure on every defender even if they had less success with some than others.

Atlanta is not a flawed team like last year, they just got serious weaknesses like Toronto.

Can't get an easy basket

Too dribble drive dependent

Trae been protected much better this year but he gets exposed against these five-out teams like Charlotte.

Our bigs never make anyone pay for going small.

We just got too many specialists. That's fine if you got LeBron but with Trae, you need legit players.

The Hawks are not going to be a good team till they address some key issues.

Capela averages nearly 12reb a game this season. In this game, he got just 7 boards to go along with his weak defense. His 22pts was mostly courtesy of Trae's assist not to mention the numerous bunnies he missed.

I think I remember that.  It almost went in right?   I'm guessing Trae saw Lamelo do it twice already and realized how stupid he looked not taking them.

LOL.  it was a decent shot.  hit the top of the backboard i think.

And Lamelo's first 'end of quarter heave' was basically a 25 footer.

So did anyone feel like that guys were just easily driving by Murray last night?   He wasn't the only one of course but he just didn't look sharp on defense to me.   For the first time all year i was hoping for AHoli to get in the game at least to hound Lamelo for a few minutes.

I dunno but, in my defense, I'm just a Hawks fan so I must be a stoopid.

We were told, Hornets shot 25%  on their threes this season.  Then, last night they shot 54% with many, many threes.  Hawks were unable to quiet them.  They have our number, for sure.  If they played every other NBA team like they play Atlanta they would be close to 1st place in the east.

Had to switch from NBA TV because I'm too close to Charlotte.  Finally got to watch the 4th quarter.  Ugh!

Nate, true to form, had his usual nine man rotation.

Atlanta needs to fire it's entire roster or fire Nate, whichever is easier to do!  This can't be all his fault, can it?  No, throw in all our assistant coaches into the pile.  They either can't have any say on what is happening or they have no idea about what is wrong.

Credit to the Hornets.  When they see the Hawks, their eyes light up and they are a different team!

They are not this good.  We are not this bad.  I keep saying this, trying to believe.

🥲

To me almost every Hawk played pretty slack d for most of the game.   But at some point coach has to just rant to get their attention.  I don't think Nate does that anymore.

As much as I agreed with the previous post, I consider this simplistic coach bashing if you don't mind me saying so.

Nate just ranted the previous game at halftime (... that was clear based on postgame comments).

Ranting has to be measured in any relationship... husband/wife... parent/child... supervisor/employee... or it becomes noise, and you get tuned out.

I think Nate deserves better than for people to just presume he doesn't know what he's doing, and that they're somehow better plugged-in to what he should do and when he should do it. Honestly. I mean, yes, he's mortal, and we're within the boundaries of sobriety to believe he makes some ill-fated decisions, but I believe we're smarter, more reasonable, less emotional, less reactionary to believe he also makes better-informed, wiser decisions than we can grasp, being on the outside looking in as we inherently are.

He's too easy a target, and fans often are too full of themselves... which, of course, can be said for pretty much any fan base and their coach... Andy Reid, enjoy it while you can, next season you'll again be spoken-of as-if inept and having lost whatever instincts you had, and the game has passed you by.

I just think we can be better... and by "better," yes, I mean "more balanced," I mean "less reactionary," I mean "more intelligent"... fans sometimes than we show ourselves to be.
