My whole premise is that Schlenk has a clear cut preference, viewing a player as being on a different level from other available players.  I've made that super clear in my posts.

I also see zero statistical support for your position.  I see plenty of anecdotes and agree that there are absolutely trades where the team getting more picks wins but see even more where the team trading up wins.

If Schlenk has two guys ranked closely, that isn't a situation we are discussing.

We had the chance to give up multiple picks/players to trade up and get Giannis and we chose not to do it.  We would have won that trade big time.  If Schlenk believes in someone like that, he should make the move.  That is what I've been saying all thread.

This....I’ve said the same exact thing. If schlenk is seeing one of these guys as a sure thing (sure star).... he needs to get that player at all cost.

I think Clarke can become a good corner shooter.

I want cam and Sekou too but like I’ve said before it just sounds too good to actually happen.

if I were schlenk I’d try to get pick 7 just so I can be sure to draft those two but we are just going to have to live with whoever is on board at 10....I don’t see Washington not picking Sekou (just my opinion)

There is always a price point but that works both ways depending on how Schlenk values that player and the others on their board.  If Schlenk believes, it will be his job to find a way.

Don’t count out Nic Claxton as an offensive fit either. He’s got good handling and passing ability for a big. His shot is a little questionable right now, but our shooting coaches have proven to be able to help guys in that department. Long term  he could really become a DPS center while also being an anchor defensively.

He's one of my guys at 17 if we keep it.

Shouldn’t Bruno Fernando be in the top 5 passing? I’ve read that he’s a better passing center than Goga

Bruno is a great passing when drawing attention. Goga is a better passer in more situations. But Bruno is one of the best pressure passing prospects for a big period. Right there with Vlade and Brad Miller but other than that, his passing is solid for a big. Joker and Hakeem to me are GOATs.

Wait... Bruno is on the same level as Vlade as a passer? Man, I’m not seeing this from him at all in the film. I feel he finds people but not nearly as crafty to be mentioned with Vlade. Then again you mentioned Clarke as Rodman.

From Sham's Article on the Athletic,  my love for Kevin Porter isn't crazy. A little on the Hawks too.

USC’s Kevin Porter Jr. is entering this week’s NBA draft as arguably one of the most intriguing prospects. At 6-foot-6, the left-handed swingman showed his talent in high school in Seattle and for stretches at USC. But in 21 games in his lone freshman season, Porter started just four games. He dealt with quad and ankle injuries as well as a suspension during the season, all factors that clouded the 18-year-old’s stock. But several NBA executives selecting near the top of the lottery in Thursday NBA Draft told The Athletic that Porter is a sneaky name on their board. “He has the gifts to be a top-5 pick — easily,” one executive said.

Atlanta Hawks

Sources said North Carolina forward Nassir Little’s draft range likely begins with the Hawks at No. 8, but the Bulls (No. 7) are expressing an increased interest in trying to bring Little in for a workout ahead of Thursday’s draft. There had been questions about Little’s 3-point shooting in his freshman season at UNC, where Little shot 26.9 percent on under two attempts per game. But several lottery teams said that Little squashed any concerns during his shooting in pre-draft workouts.

Sorry for spamming for Kevin Porter Jr, but in the comments section of Chris Kirschner's article on Travis Schlenk today, he says Kevin Porter Jr. is definetly on the Hawks radar for the 17th pick.  The question in the comments section was asked if he was on their radar for 17, so the Hawks could have him higher.

Also says the Hawks are still extremely high on Cam Reddish, and if the team was to move up it would be for Culver and Hunter, not Reddish as Reddish is most likely to be there at 8.

Sounds good Supes but I think the level of risk on Reddish cannot considered to be low even with the Hawks. I mean he has all the tools but has not been able to put them on display on his freshman season, his shooting percentages are los and he left some major questionmarks in the air. However I believe he can be a great fit with us and have one of the highest ceiling on the draft, I think he can be an all-star but somehow is one of those boom or bust prospects, there is a decent chance he is not in the league in 6 years. Having said that I really hope Hawks take him at 8.

The HC weighs in...

https://929thegame.radio.com/articles/atlanta-hawks-open-anything-2019-nba-draft-even-point-guard

- Practically comes out and says at about the 5:00 mark that they're looking at adding as few as 2, as many as 4, but more than likely 3 guys Thursday night... one ready to plug-in to the line-up, one who may need some time before he breaks into the rotation, and another who could need a year in College Park.

- Not worried about how ball dominant a player is, because as much as Trae gets double-teamed, they need another legitimate scoring threat who can also distribute, and it doesn't matter what position that guy plays

- Some guys who visit are off the Hawks board based on Pierce getting a vibe that they're not coachable

- Defensive ability and mindset are definitely wanted assets

I beg to differ. He has polish, NBA size, skill and ability, can make NBA reads and rotations. I always liked his day one ability to at least be in anyone's rotation.

The question with him is offensively, is he going to be good enough. For us, the question is can he be an impact player day 1. I think so in terms of rookie expectations

I know I'm biased but the bolded text above screams Nic Claxton to me.  I hope so anyway.  Would love him on the hawks.

One-a y'all explain this dude to me.  When I saw him play he just looked like a 'guy'.  I tried watching more but I have red/black color blindness. 😏

These are profound statements.  I'll read the tea leaves and say

(a) we're probably going to pass on someone the eggsperts think we should take,

(b) although Heurter is a part of the core, we could still take a 2 and

(c) for some reason, in news which may shock and dismay some (lookin at you @Spud2nique), I think that uncoachable statement refers to my guy Goga the Destroyer 😧.  He just seemed to know too much in his interviews, gave me a 'know-it-all'y vibe.  Haha, somebody revive spud2.  Hey, I could be wrong.  I'd still take him.

LOL....I figured as much with the Avatar.  I'm a little biased because I have a connection with the kid (I wouldn't say I'm personally close with him but one of his mentors is one of my close friends).

Anyway, as a player, he has a ton of potential, imo.  He has good length - blocks a lot of shots - can rebound, pass, and dribble.  UGA had no PG on the team this year so a lot of the plays ran through Nic which show his ball handling potential.  He has a limited jump shot but he's shown enough to think he has the potential to be a competent stretch 5.

For me, he'd be a defensive big that can protect the rim first.  His offense would be secondary but would come over time.  He's raw.  Needed another year in school but decided to take a chance with a weak draft.
