The only media more ruthless than Philly media, is the New York media.  And we see how the Knicks responded to the criticism and pressure.

Embiid was outstanding . . until the 4th quarter.

Simmons can't make a FT to save his life.

And what about Doc Rivers?  Is he going to coach differently?

 

The one thing about that game, is that the BIG lineup by the Hawks does have an effect on that team.  Playing our 3 bigs also puts a bigger guy on Tobias Harris.  And because their guards are mainly spot up shooters, and not drivers of the basketball, it does make them more guardable by our backcourt players ( unless they're red hot from 3 ).

If anything, I worry more about what happened in Game 3, in which it was the Hawks that game out nervous and played horribly.

Game 6 could be a double digit win by either team.  Hopefully the home team will prevail.

I think it’s a huge factor.  There’s no way a team with an MVP candidate, playoff experience, and at the prime average age of 27 should be struggling to a team, albeit with a playoff MVP candidate, with no experience and 2 years younger on average.  This is just Nate outcoaching Doc by a significant margin.

It was exactly his response in game 4 when we came back from 18 points down to win. Max Kellerman was the only one (Kendrick perkins as well) to give Atlanta credit for the comeback. SAS made it abundantly clear he's still cheering for the Sixers thanks to covering Philly teams for 17 years as a beat reporter. He gave us no credit and pinned all the blame to Philly. 

It was like a magical unicorn came out of the arena and somehow gifted the Hawks basket after basket while also running over Philly players to keep them from scoring. The Hawks weren't cold, it was that great Philly defense! When the Hawks got hot, well, it wasn't the Hawks playing well it was the great Philly defense falling apart! When the Sixers got cold, well, it wasn't the Hawks defending better. No, no! This is all about Philly. 

I'm shocked SAS doesn't show up to the games with a hunting rifle to try and snipe our magical unicorn that only shows up to gift the Hawks comeback victories.

Some key series numbers:

 Ben Simmons 15% usage

I think holding Harris down has been the main key on Nate’s board.  You know what you’re gonna get usually from Seth and Joel, and what you aren’t going to get from Simmons.  I think the Sixers go as Harris goes.  Usually a great slasher, 9 free throw attempts shows his aggressiveness has been all but eliminated.  Doc just forgets about getting him involved sometimes, good for us especially after thinking  missing Dre was gonna be big with him.  The other guys have done very well limiting him, namely John with the +6 overall rating.  He has become so smart with playing outside the stat sheet I been here for it.

OO with a +20 rating, Gallo with +16.  They’re the hidden keys as to why were winning threes and keeping pace on the boards.  The FT shooting and turnover edge is mostly Ice Trae The MF Game (also a +6 rating). The fact that his defense hasn’t really hurt at all in 5 games is just mind blowing to me.  Part of it is very poor guard play on their end by anyone not named Curry, most of it is Trae manning up.

It is kind of strange to me why the media keeps asking the question, "was this a Hawks comeback or a Philly collapse" as if it is one but not the other.  Did anyone say, "Well, Tom that really wasn't a Patriots comeback.  That was a Falcons collapse."  Hell no.  It can be, and usually is, both.

I don’t listen to anything NBA related, predictive or reactionary, if the clock ain’t running during a live game.  Only like 5% of all the pundits really know hooping and can intelligently express themselves.  There isn’t even such a thing as choke jobs from losing huge leads anymore that sh*t is so common in today’s NBA.  I respect Jay’s mind a great deal and I don’t know why Zach Lowe isn’t on television.  Always been a Sam Mitchell fan.  Outside of that I’m super straight.

I feel that if the game script had been different the Hawks would be the ones with the preassure heading into this game 6... but the way things played out, the historic comeback on the road, the booing with 1:30 mins left, the aforementioned thrashing Philly is getting in the media... Nah, if the preassure was 100% on Philly last night, which it was IMO, the preassure coming into game 6 is 1000% on them now. Hawks continue to play with house money. Trae Young ALREADY has put together perhaps the best playoff run by a player under 25 since LBJ, Hawks have already forced a game 7 ot an essentially full strength Philly team which basically no one was predicting.

To get not one, but two Doc Rivers' specials is great. Even though I am now forbidden from watching Hawks games for the time being (I had most of the last two second halves off, when they were performing better), it makes my playoffs that those happened no matter what.

But the Hawks deserve all the credit for not laying down and forcing them. Any other Atlanta team folds. This team is different.

SAS definitely shows his biases in his takes.  Max hit on the head after game 4 SAS is still salty about the Hawks beating his Knick’s.  

In the end all that matters is the Hawks keep winning.
