I take no issue if he wants a bigger role.  I take no issue if he asked for a trade since he was already on the block for a year and a half....but not giving the effort and not being a professional is problematic.

To me, this was obvious. You don't have such a substantial drop-off in defense at his age by happenstance. He still has all of the physical tools. On offense, he generally looked like he was playing street ball out there.

Hands were somewhat tied. Hawks didn't have as much leverage as I thought. Schlenk is probably thinking that improving the locker room mood can help turn the team around in the short term.

You know JC was not standing for that shit after he sacrificed and balled out of his mind with so few touches last year.  I remember at the start of this season we featured Reddish a lot and he was laying turds.  I thought maybe we were trying to see what we had in him to make a decision, but I didn't consider it was him and his camp demanding to be featured more.  The first 10 games of the season my buddies and I would joke "no way he's passing, let's see if this goes in" every time he got a touch

Personally I’m not a fan of the move, I was a big fan of his potential too. Joking here, but Knox was the guy who also won Eastern Rookie of the Month during he and Trae’s rookie year lol. I remember the NY media was all about him back then.

Even though I hate the trade, a lot of good points are being made about why it makes sense. This is going to have to be one of those wait and see what happens. 

Edited to add that we made our late season and playoff run last year without him playing a game from February until game 2 of the ECF. So take that however you want to.

My thought went to this - JC scarified touches and his overall game to incorporate Capela while in a contract year - the ultimate professional.

First of all, to my man @NBASupes

I know that we might not see eye to eye in many things and we agreed on some, I know that he was on the one that wanted Cam from the start and really want him to be one of the center pieces to this team.  So, I feel bad right now for him and I hope that young man can bloom in NY.

But I want to talk about what we got back in return; when I heard that what we got back was a protected 1st and Kevin Knox (he is playing a position that is crowded right now) I was complexed about it, but I believe that him and that pick is not staying in Atlanta (Travis been very quiet about this, tells me he has another play in effect).  I hope it is Ben Simmons (like I explained last night that he can help Trae out in so many different ways).

I can understand that people are upset that we had to traded Reddish but, in a way, it was him or Hunter?  Believe me, this site would have burned down if we traded Hunter.

I'm not calling Cam a cancer, but he had a different agenda than the team and 1 player going his own way can ruin chemistry.  I'm not sure Knox is staying here (he might be backfill at PF for another trade involving Gallo ) but he might just be filler on another trade. Just passing through.  But the skinny on Knox is that he gives effort (I posted an article on this earlier) and will work on his flaws, is coachable.  Last season's conflict between LP and Cam was centered on Cam not wanting to work on the things LP wanted him to work on (ligament strength, his core, shooting fundamentals) that he eventually worked on for Nate.  I'd rather have a guy buy in (I believe Knox will) than a guy with more skills but only out for himself. Team > individual every time.

I'm not gonna pile on the young man, but I'm disappointed, especially when you consider what the Hawks did without him last year and what the goal was for this season.  I'm bummed to hear this.

We all wanted him to be more aggressive, but at times it did come off as selfish because he’d do stuff that looked awful. Being aggressive isn’t just dribbling the ball and shooting it more. He struggled with understanding when to be aggressive within the flow of the game.
