Finally heard someone speak on Christian Wood.

Sam Mitchell, on HOU adding Wood ...

- He's not coachable.  The host indicated he agreed.

- Speaking in general (although it was clear they were talking about Wood).... I'd take a lesser player any day over a guy with a poor attitude.  Because that bad attitude can kill your team.

I always wondered why he keeps bouncing around, so I posited there must be something going on with him.  Interesting to hear someone actually verbalize these concerns.

Can someone explain why Charlotte changed the Deal to be a sign and trade?  I see how it helps Celtics but how does it help Charlotte at all?

I think it was mainly for goodwill.  I think wedid the same on the Gallinari signing.

Eta. Ok, I held back in my original response.  The reality is this was a face-saving move for Dan E. strAinge.

Now he can puff his chest out about having a huge TPE but the reality is it's unlikely he'll use it for anything significant.  But now Smeltic fans get to go on about how he didn't really lose Hayward for nothing since he got on his knees and begged Charlotte to make this a SnT when they didn't have to.

What impact player is available for $27 million?  He may be able to use it next off season before the year ends, but I don't see Danny doing anything with it during the season.

It's possible but pretty unlikely they'll be able to do anything at all with it.  But that won't stop folks from acting like this was some big win.

I almost drove off the road when I heard Scalabrine talking about them losing Hayward and just glossing over the fact that they could've been able to trade him to ind for a nice package.  The dude said he was blown away they were able to land Tristan Thompson.  "I knew Dan e. had something up his sleeve .... after losing Hayward but I never would've dreamed it would be Tristan Thompson!"

R u fkng kidding me, dude?  Yes, that's an actual quote.  Yes, that fills a need for them but let's not act like there was a huge market for that guy.

There isn't one currently available. They can also split the TPE into players(s) making smaller salaries.

Danny is like that recent retiree who wants to finally “do something crazy!” so they take a flight out to Vegas.  
 

Now they’re walking around the casino floor with two arms full of chips scoping out the action.  They float around from table to table deciding on a game of choice but never sit.  Every dealer’s eyes widen with anticipation as he approaches their table, every patron is filled with anxiousness as the “big money” hovers over their shoulder but...Danny just watches a few hands, nods understandably, and moves on to observe the next table. 

At the end of the trip Danny feels remorse that he made this whole journey and didn’t gamble once like he set out to do so he decides to throw some of his pocket change in an airport slot machine.  He throws in $1.75 over some time and wins back $2 in the end.  Danny boards the plane content that he “came out ahead” with only his mask hiding his huge grin, muffling his whispers to himself “you still got it, Danny boy!”

Danny has now returned home and is regaling his friends and family with tales from his big trip.  He tells of all the tables where big prizes were won that he was “in on” and the audience looks on in glee and awe until one grandchild innocently asks: “grandpa Danny, so you won a lot of money?!”  The crowd is shocked to silence but old grandpa Danny noticing the harmlessness of the question gets on one knee, looks the child in the eyes with a bemused smirk and responds

“that wasn’t the point.”

No I don’t think that was an oddly specific example, why do you ask?

They can't even use it all because of tax/hard cap concerns.  And, they're gonna be stuck in 21-22 if they don't dump Kemba.

If I were Boston, I'd use some of it at the trade deadline to take on an older veteran with an expiring contract in the $10M-$15M range from a non-playoff team for depth. That'd be easier than trying to sign a guy off the waiver wire when competing with a half-dozen contenders and you get Bird rights to re-sign the guy the next year at a much lower cost.  The non-playoff team would save money because they'd likely be waiving the guy anyway.

It had thrills, gave me chills, and hit us all right in the feels.  Excellent story that is clearly in no way a first-hand account.

Turner is a smart guy and likeable although I didn't like the leak from last year. Coaching is where he belongs and I wish him well.

Definitely doesn't belong on the playing floor.  Garbage player and his attitude (and player) in ATL was garbage. Very smart in his contract history (bilking teams out of cash).  

Not a coincidence that the only team that ever got their money's worth from him is the team that brings him back to add to the coaching staff.  Not a coincidence that Atlanta and Portland (the more recent teams whose money he burned) were not as excited about having him return to lead their players.

Celtics fans think they can get John Collins for their $5mil TPE because the Hawks don't want to pay him.
