It's basically validated the minutes he was fed earlier in the name of development. Totally weird how folks saw how that boosted Trae last year but, for some reason, folks decided CLP needed to be fired for doing the same thang with Cam. We all agree playing game minutes is the best way to accelerate growth. We all agree this was still a developmental year. But folks wanna fire the coach for ... developing? Super weird. I guess some folks still want Jabarme Parker here puttin up selfish nimbers while the only 'defending' he does is preventing our young guys from getting better. 5

And it's so much easier to throw a youngun out there to make mistakes when they are generally playing great D

I have not read one post calling for Pierce's firing for over using Cam. Most have been complaining about his under utilization of Bruno and his over utilization of Vince Carter. The idea that we've seen posts arguing against Cam's minutes is valid. It isn't widespread on this site but you've got a vocal minority that has argued LP has been making a mistake to give Cam (among others) the minutes he has gotten and has very vocally called for LP to be fired (granted, not always in the same posts).

RedDawg#8
Cam has star potential. When he plays aggressive like he is, you can clearly see the level of talent he has is a far cry above even the most seasoned vets. His bag of moves is pretty diverse, kid is gonna be nice in his prime Edited February 21, 2020 by RedDawg#8

If you watch his body language in his high school highlights, you'll see that he has his 'swagger' back. If he becomes what he was offensively, he's a surefire All Star.

Bam had to set that screen UGK Super Tight (and likely moving). Cam still fights, squares, and anticipates with the quick hands. It was too much going on with the Fournier play. The strip and the patience with the power-through on the And 1 was crazy but the change of direction on the break was my fav.

Popular Post TheNorthCydeRises
I think a lot of us saw early on, even when he was struggling, that he could be effective with the ball in his hands, whether it be as a pick and roll facilitator, or as a guy slashing to the hole. Sticking him in the corner or have him outside just waiting to shoot 3s was NOT his game. I hated that he was taking all of those jumpers that he obviously couldn't make at the time. But in 2020, it's obvious that the coaching staff has worked with him on his footwork and properly squaring up to take jumpers. It's still not what you'd consider to be "great", but it's a lot more consistent. His finishing around the rim though, is the thing that has most improved. His drives are under control and he's going a lot stronger to the rim as well, even absorbing contact in the process. In the offseason, they'll probably try to improve his shooting even more, but I hope they try to make him an even better slasher, because I think that's the most exciting part of his offensive game right now.

But when all you have to do is catch and shoot, there's no reason for him to develop other ways to score the basketball. That also means getting to the FT line.
Popular Post gurpilo
Confidence, minutes, that is what is needed for a young player to develop. I am so glad he is showing such good things on his first season!! I see a player that can be near all-star level if he improves his percentages, He has a rare combination of abilities of size, ball handling, defense.... he still do not have the shooting however I think it will come with time. Nothing is written about the future of Hunter, Reddish, Huerter, Young, Collins, even Bruno and Capela. Keep adding young talent, is always good to have young players with potential, round the team with good vets that can provide good minutes, keep improving defense, shooting and rebounding with new additions. Finally next year is the year we need to make a great jump with hopefully all players healthy. Next year Young, Capela and Collins will be the leaders of the team, they need to be surrounded by good vets like Dedmon, hopefully a PF and 2 wings. Add Reddish, Hunter, Huerter, Goodwin and Bruno and a top 7 pick PG and we will be a good team on the east, a playoff team.

Gets 45 touches a game over the last 6 years. He just gets it done. 1

I don’t think he would ever have been a good #1 option he’s not that kind of player over a full season. He is one of a few two way guys in the league though. Some combination of Joe Johnson and Reggie Miller I imagine. Theyd probably run more plays for him to get open like Reggie and do much less iso than Joe. But if he did have to iso I picture it being slow, plodding and methodical al a Joe.
