Well, yeah, 99% of his tweets are just quoting scripture... that's not interesting to anyone.  Of course the one where he says going to a Beyonce concert is "promoting Satan" is going to garner attention.  His tweets almost never pass judgement on other people like that.

Fair enough, I do think the fortune telling aspect of that tweet and some others is going too far.

Another example of why Trae is an underrated young superstar. There is so much attention on these players and their words are always on full display via social media. People scrutinize everything Trae does wrong, but you won’t find him tossing out fire and brimstone.

If this was Trae’s twitter and not AJ’s, he would be getting flamed by the masses on every outlet.

Hate on his shot selection all you want, but we hit the jackpot with Trae when it comes to off the court headlines.

I think about this a lot.  Dude does nothing but hold a high standard for behavior despite constantly being attacked both professionally and personally.   I'm glad to see some guys coming to his defense in the national media.

Every NBA Team's Highest-Ceiling Prospect

Atlanta Hawks: AJ Griffin

1 OF 30

The Hawks made a pretty big mistake last offseason when they traded away Kevin Huerter, but that trade opened up minutes for AJ Griffin. Even though he was the third-youngest player in the NBA—Griffin turned 20 in August—he found his way into the rotation for the Hawks.

Griffin averaged 19.5 minutes, scoring 8.9 points a game on 46.5 percent shooting from the field and 39.0 percent from three. He had two game-winners last season, one off a lob from Trae Young in transition and the other from a spectacular spinning shot off a sideline out-of-bounds play.

The offense from Griffin is great, but the most important trait is that he can help an Atlanta team that simply was bad defensively. With him on the court, the Hawks' defensive rating was 3.5 points better than it was when he was off.

The challenge for the Hawks will be trying to find more minutes for Griffin, assuming good health for everyone on the roster. If Griffin does continue to improve, though, it could put the front office in a good position to look to move some of the older, more expensive players that are playing ahead of him.

We went with Griffin over another young prospect in Onyeka Okongwu. We easily could have gone with him. He plays a larger role as the backup to Clint Capela and has had a major impact. We went with Griffin for two reasons.

First, this is more of a wing league, especially for those who can defend. Second, Okongwu is eligible to sign an extension this summer, and depending on that deal, he might not be a great trade asset.

What is the word behind the scenes on AJ?  Why is he struggling to find his place with Quin? Why has his shooting fallen off? Is it physical or mental?

Quin has a very short trigger with  young players. AJ is not playing defense well enough to satisfy Quin. He also isn't making his shots. I personally feel Quin needs to let AJ play more or send him to the G league so he at least gets minutes.

Yep.  Shooters have to shoot and he's not going to improve by as a cheerleader.  This is how good players slip through the cracks and end up shining in a different environment.  Not saying all he needs is PT, but AJ was consistently impressing last season.  Too much to be buried on the bench.

Ngl, we're not winning enough for guys with talent to be totally out of the rotation.  He hasn't earned it with his play so far, but AJ probably should be getting minutes just off 'gadayum, I gotta try somethin'..

Bey isn't either, just saying.

He looks like he has lost all his confidence. Do you think the trade rumors affected him?

Agreed. :good:.

The Matthews and Mathews were providing impact in their minutes, I can understand....but they're not to the degree where AJ can't get minutes.
