I remember the Larry Drew situation when he wouldn't officially release him until right before the draft even though he never had any intentions of bringing him back which ended up backfiring on him and led us to losing Giannis. I'm not surprised he never got another GM role.

Popular Post NBASupes
Blockbuster News Agenda Hawks Hawks Draft History Hawks Rumors Trade Rumors NBA Draft Rumors Hawks I got an insight about the Hawks's recent drafts outside of last year from someone extremely close to the best source from my guy The year we drafted JC, we were supposed to trade that pick to Brooklyn to move down where LA selected Kuzma and took Derrick White. The trade was our pick 19 for 27 with Brook Lopez coming to Atlanta and Dwight going to Brooklyn. This deal fell through several days before because LA wanted a salary cut hunting for their big FA bonanza to get Kawhi and LeBron. They offered D'Lo and Brooklyn couldn't refuse and it f***ed our deal up. The year we took Trae. We wanted Trae all along. I had wrong info that Tony wanted Luka and TS wanted Trae but Luka told us and SAC to f*** off. Only wanted to go to handful of teams. Boston, PHX who had his coach and the #1 overall pick and they took their owner #1 guy because, well he's the owner, DAL who had history with a Euro in Dirk, SA for the obvious, and some big market teams. He didn't want to play for the Hawks. I heard this before but I got an insider from Luka's camp that said that wasn't true. Well, this close source showed my guy things when I questioned it and it's true. Luka didn't want to come here. Also, the rumor that Vlade had beef with his dad was false as well. He just told SAC he didn't want to play there. Similar to how Hali did us a couple years later. They worked out JJJ and Bagley and liked them but didn't see superstar potential with one nor ticket sales although one of our asst GMs at the time was in love with JJJ. It was always Trae. That said, if Memphis traded down from 4 which they tried and someone took Trae at 4. Atlanta was willing to stick with Luka. Luka was gonna do some BS. He was going to stick in Europe but he would have eventually come to Atlanta but he was gonna fight it. It was always Trae, ya'll. Atlanta got lucky with getting Dre. I know some of ya'll do want to hear it but Atlanta was going to take Cam, and P.J. Washington. They were shopping that 17th pick for a vet wing and was having trouble finding one. Hunter fit. It might seem like an overpay but NYK wasn't willing to trade R.J. for 8/10. Atlanta really wanted R.J. He didn't end up where they expected but they really liked him as a prospect. I think everyone knows TS favorite prospect in the OO draft was Hali who told us to f*** off. Atlanta tried to move up for Ant but the price was too high which now looks like a discount considering what he has become. It was going to cost us 6, Kev, JC, future 1sts and unprotected. Now, this looks like a no-brainer but at that time, those were heavy-hitting names. Probably missed on this one. OO was always the guy after Hali. 2021 was lucky af. They tried to move up 3 times. Once for Primo. Once for Duarte. Once for Sengun which would have been nice. Got outbidded every single time. JJ was there who was the highest on their board. They had some other names they loved still on the board but the intel was they would be had later so they just went with BPA within this range. It worked for them. Sometimes you just need luck and a deep draft. Every year, teams overthink and swing on obvious potential misses and production should be a staple. Either that or talent. JJ really helped as he's been an A-1 player for us which he didn't have that rep otherwise. 2022 was sad. They had Jalen Williams as their BPA. They tried to trade up to 11 with the Knicks to get him but was outbid by the king of draft pieces, aka OKC. While they were happy Griffin fell to them, he wasn't close to their top guy on the BB. He was just the BPA left. They really wanted Jalen and tried to get him as well. f*** the Knicks! Hawks Rumors Hawks are seriously looking at resigning Bey and giving him a QO. Hawks are looking into a contract with Vit with sadly Forrest potentially being cut. Hawks are not expecting to keep Kings' pick this year and would rather have a pick next year. While many teams are praying around the Hawks, I've heard that the Hawks want to run it back with some minor changes. While Murray is available, the cost is very high which it's always been very high. The teams that I have as favorites are Utah, Detroit, and SA. It's going to cost you a lot. I am told, NO is not interested. OO is likely on the way out. He has a massive market. Teams have constantly called and his fit with Quin just hasn't really been there and the Hawks need size. I am told, Atlanta can get a top 10 pick for OO and he's getting serious calls. Trae is not available. This is not new but I should state again, Trae is not available. Atlanta still likes Capela believe it or not but that might have to do with the fact that his trade value is negative right now and Atlanta is asset barren. Bogi is not available as well as Dre and JJ. Kobe and Gueye is how Atlanta really covets. I am not sure what's going to happen to Griffin who's been getting a lot of calls as well. Even some from lotto teams. He's highly coveted as well. NBA Draft Rumors: Dink Pate is getting a lot of love. If he can get an exception for the NBA Draft, he's been told that he will be the #1 pick. Teams hate this draft. Like really hate this draft. Especially the bad teams and the great teams. The good teams and the teams in the middle seem to like this draft and see talent but they also have put a lot of time and money into this class so they are finding jewels and really doing their homework. Bad teams want obvious picks. Big movers to teams in the March Madness period: Clingan, Edey, Castle, Topic, Knecht, Shannon Jr., Matas Buzelis, J. Tyson, J. Nunez, P.J. Hall, J. McCain, D. Carter, T. Da Silva Big Fallers to teams in the March Madness period: R. Sheppard, R. Dillingham, C. Williams, K. Filipowski, Y. Missi, K. McCullar, R. Dunn, J. Furphy, K. Ware, O. Ighodaro No one fell massively but they all dropped to some degree. Comps I've heard of lately Castle - J. Suggs R. Dillingham - B. Jennings Clingan - Gobert Williams - Raw and weak Dre Hunter with more on-ball upside D. Carter - Shorter Derrick White Stock like a rollercoaster depending on who you ask: Sheppard, Edey, Dunn, Topic, J. Tyson, and B. Scheierman. 3

Gray Mule
I'm still hoping! If the Hawks are trading 0017, hopefully they can do a three way or something and get that young center from the Hornets. Mark Williams if a 22-year-old, 7 ft. product of Duke. I wanted him in the draft. Still do. He didn't play recently, injured, but should be fine next season. A center for a center and something to make the payroll work.
Popular Post NBASupes
Blockbuster big time Trade News: Hawks first: Bad News out the way: T'Wolves was rumored to be possibly looking to trade KAT this offseason if they lose early but now that Glen Taylor is fully the owner moving forward. He wants to keep KAT for the long haul and build more years with this core. This means, KAT will not be available for trade. Hawks/Pels The Hawks made it clear to NO, their #1 target was Herb Jones and #2 was Trey Murphy. Pels did talk to Atlanta about potentially Brandon Ingram but Atlanta seem to want a lot more return from NO than what they were willing to give. NO also offered CJ who Atlanta had no interest in. It seemed like this one was far as NO wasn't feeling Atlanta's wants and Atlanta wasn't close with NO either. It seems like NO has been scouting the mess out of Atlanta and they have agreed that Murray is a critical get for them as they want to move C.J. to the bench. They want Murray but they are completely unwilling to move Herb or Trey who they were willing but not willing to listen to offers for. Now, they are completely off the table for anyone. But Ingram is completely on the table and I am told NO and Ingram are 30-40 million dollars off on negotiations and that's off NO final offer. NO wanted Murray and OO for him. Atlanta wanted Ingram and a 2024 LAL 1st and a future 1st as well. NO were unwilling to give any 1st but it seems like they are open to at least a 2024 1st but not the 2nd future 1st which Atlanta still demands for Murray. I think both teams are close on this deal. Maybe Atlanta gets two 1sts. The details he got is Ingram is willing to resign but NO sees him in the same range as Murray and his reps don't. Atlanta believes they can resign Ingram. Atlanta sees BI as an SG, Hunter as an SF, and JJ as a 4. They are targeting a center this offseason. Maybe two. I was also told by him that NO thinks Murray is better than Trae and more valuable. Atlanta doesn't share that message but I just thought it was interesting to hear. I haven't heard any news on A.J. in terms of in or out but I've heard Bufkin and Gueye are expected to be in the rotation next year. This means Garrison Matthews is likely out of the rotation. As I previously stated, they want to resign Bey. They are also looking at potentially adding another vet but don't count on it. If I had to point to anyone, it's Bogey with NY who I've been told is back on the trade market. Atlanta has options, I've been told they are looking at Matisse Thybulle as well. They are targeting a vet wing with JC TPE. Vit is someone who has been mentioned recently that they want to resign to a multi-year deal as well as Forrest. I am told Wes is out. Bruno is on the cusp of being out. A.J. is the only name I haven't heard for better or worse. My guess is he's likely the player that would be traded for the wing Atlanta covets with JC's TPE since his name is not being mentioned. Seth Lundy is wanted back on a 2-way deal. Not sure about Windler. CC is likely here to stay, Atlanta doesn't see him as someone they want to give away or trade assets to get rid of. I know we all heard this before but they are truly selling the idea that they are open to paying the LT this year. Atlanta sees Trae, Murray, Hunter, JJ, Bogi, and OO as their core. That said, they are willing to split up the core to get better. They want to keep Trae the most. He's our franchise player and they do not see Murray as their franchise player. Just letting you know how they see the two. My belief is Wes is out of here. AJ, Bruno, and Garrison are on the cusp. Murray and OO could be heading to NO. Atlanta is targeting a vet wing who can play minutes. Atlanta is leaning toward resigning Bey. Outside of Atlanta: Donovan Mitchell has been a hot name but one team more than the others keeps ringing and that's Brooklyn Nets. Brooklyn is open to trade Mikal Bridges to land Mitchell and Mitchell is open to going to Brooklyn and living in NY. He's just not a fan of Cleveland. Cleveland wants to keep him at all costs but Cleveland is also interested in Bridges and both teams have an interest in this type of deal. This is probably why Bud is interested in Brooklyn now. Brooklyn is also shopping Cam Thomas for a 1st rounder in this draft. I am told they are looking at Tyler Kolek, Devin Carter, and Nikola Topic who's expected to go high. LAL wants everyone and no one wants LA in terms of teams for their stars. Austin Reaves just doesn't do it for anyone and they see him like Kuzma. LA hype and not interested. SA from his source, SA wants to tank another year. They want a shot at Cooper Flagg and others like Ace Bailey to give Wemby a true elite cast to grow with. The Kings are being very aggressive and want to add another stud but it's difficult. Rumor has it that Chicago would love a deal with them for LaVine but the Kings want someone better on a better contract. Easier said than done. It's early but this is what's being talked about. I believe the size between BI and Murray is what they want to improve. Based on the 2nd half of the season, Murray has been a better player than BI but BI is still a top 60-70 player and he can play the 2-3 like Hunter. This doesn't include OO who's seen as a prize by NO who they been coveting for awhile.
