We got San Antonio coming up. That's an L. But we got Chi and Sac after that, those are a winnable if Trae is back.

I can see it. We didn't really use him right at Duke and I say that as someone who watched every game over the last 4 years. Him like Wendell Carter Jr. wasn't developed correctly. For Cam, we developed him to have movement skill which he more than anyone on our team outside of John, C&S which clearly hasn't translated yet and all around defense. It shows but it's clear we didn't develop anything else. 

 

Cam handles is loose and his base is FAR too wide. Cam attacks the paint like he is Tracy McGrady when athletically in the air, he's a weaker Brandon Roy. Cam just hasn't been developed right. He is basically like a HS on offense while being like a 2nd year pro on defense. It's odd but you know, this isn't the first time I've seen a player not developed well in college even from my school as a freshman. Kansas had this issue too. If you aren't a photographic memory kinda guy, you might struggle to develop in that situation. 

Offensively, Cam is going to shoot the three with massive volume in his prime and that's fine. But the player we really should use as a model is Brandon Roy. 

Like Cam, great burst in space, tremendous feet, great spin move, both have a ton of torque they play with, smooth, gets to any spot on the court, court vision, not a PG but got some playmaking chops, crafty and Cam needs to develop his craftiness in the paint to B. Roy's level. B. Roy was polished out of Washington. Played four years. Cam is raw, played one year and really wasn't developed on offense so it's gonna take some time but once gets it, he can be special because his defense can be world class.

I agree but the period is a little extra. We seem to be lacking confidence & leadership which true Trae has been bringing every game but all of our talent didn't just disappear. We were going to struggle early with chemistry regardless even with Trae which we have. Trae has just been so good, so confident & such a leader it rubbed off on other guys to atleast be functional. It's like they took the starter out the car. Still a good car they just haven't got it to crank up yet.

I know John sees himself like Siakam type but in reality, he is a Sabonis type. If he gets anymore than 4/78, it would be a MASSIVE overpay.

So anyway, Wallace looks like a keeper. Even without injuries believe he can probably give us some nice minutes nightly.

Bruno only played a few minutes and he was the only bench player with a (-).  Everyone else had a (+).  Starters didn't fare as well.

Wallace looks like he belongs here.  Just think, he probably has trouble remembering the names of all the Hawks that he plays with!  Now, with a few days off, Lloyd and staff will have a lot of tape to break down and time for hurried coaching of this ever so young team. 

Our "other" center played some and didn't look completely lost.  We fans expect these players to be a good team.  They are still learning each other.  Hawks face off against teams that have played together for two or three years and we wonder why we can't be better.

For some reason, Hawks are having trouble making their shots.  Trying too hard?  Perhaps.  As the season moves on, they may relax, let the game come to them and we will see those shots begin to fall. 

Growing sure is hard.  Without Trae, at times, players looked lost.  But, with Trae, before the injury, they sometimes were lost.  Part of growing up.

So I missed (most of) the game doing Halloween with the kg's.  Can somebody tell me how Reddish did at point, generally?

And, before y'all start, I don't wanna hear from the ones o' y'all that've already made yer minds up about the kid.  I know who you are!

He looked pretty comfortable bringing the ball up and played decent defense. He also hit his first three. There were flashes of athleticism and agility that got me excited. He's still struggling offensively though and needs more strength to keep from getting ripped at the rim. I still can't understand how he can look so good shooting during workouts but shoot so poorly during the game.

Up and Down. 

Slashing - Up and down. Depending on his decision making. Drew fouls. Like usual, got it his spots at will, tough to cover even when doubled. Got stripped a bit which I will explain later. 

Shooting - He got himself wide open like v. FSU but bricked it badly. Missed one three pretty bad. Made one! He also had one that went in and out. His mid range range looked bad today. Another decision making flaw, he took and bricked a mid range while on a 3-1 fast break. Shooting was off again. 

Dribble - His wide dribbling base really limits him in tight spaces and needs to tighten that up as well as build up his strength but his PACE and handles in space is a thing of freaking beauty. Few if any can do that. Looks like T-Mac or Grant Hill in that action and really been good at it all season. People don't realize how fast he is with the rock. It's insane. 

Defense - Had some rookie mistakes but I felt he was really good today. We put him on Butler and he did a good job. We put him on Duncan Robinson and he did a good job. Had rookie moments with Nunn. Had a rookie moment once with Herro. Did extremely well with Dragic. Just really was a pain in the ass for Miami while Huerter and Collins was getting lit the f*** up. 

 

I didn't think he looked like a PG at all but I did like his PnR actions most of the time and I did like his court vision like usual. But he is raw on offense. The most raw offensive player I've seen since Giannis and Dennis Schröder. He is raw like those out of HS prospects offensively. Defensively, my goodness, he looks like a 4 year college player with freakish tools. He's different on that end. Just different. His offense ain't it right now but his potential on that end looks really promising.

He was ok running point for the most part, up and down as expected. He was agressive going to the basket, very quick 1st step. He should just do that more. Made good reads out of the PnR  His handle needs tightening up. He made his first 3.

Dat boy need some strength, though - a full offseason to train should help that.

He still needs a ton of work, but I'm encouraged.

Thanks for the responses.  I dvr'd the game and will watch tonight.  Red is clearly raw and needs development so I don't understand the vitriol he draws.

Nobody's talking about Hunter being largely absent in multiple games but every time Reddish does something it's national news.

They both need time and they both need Trae.  Not sure why we can't be supportive of both as they grow.  We're not tanking, but it's not like we were expected to be a 1-seed or anything.

I'm on realgm straight brawling with fools calling Reddish a bust after 5 games.  It's ridiculous.  You're welcome, by the way, Hawks fans.

But I'll leave you with another perhaps more important question.  Does it make me a bad father if I eat all my kids' Halloween candy?  I'll hang up and listen.

Don't do it man. There is a nasty Urban Legend about parents who do that. Very bad news.

I haven't commented yet, but there's a thread on RealGM's general board about Cam and the spin move.  Hottake central.   

Last year it was Trae.  This year it's Cam?  

People are just so quick to call someone a bust.  Then crickets when a player starts playing well.
