Hopefully some of the reaction to this post will get back to some of the players that think the finger is pointed at them too much and not the white players on the team. Kevin is honestly the Hawk I have the biggest problem with because he's more down than up.

 

Kevin does not get a free pass on the Squawk.  He might not take as much heat as others, but he doesn't get a free pass.

The guy that gets the free pass, is De'Andre Hunter.  He's the new Al Horford, in which people really didn't say anything negative about Al until after the 60 win season.  That guy could do no wrong, despite getting destroyed on the boards when going up against good centers.

But back to Kevin.  When you do this in a Game 7, you're going to have people being easy on you, until they just get tired of you.

It may not be room in Atlanta for the both of them.  So stirring up the pot like this, to possibly get rid of your wing "rival", is the one way to ensure that Bogi stays in Atlanta.

The team didn't play last night like a team that's broken.   I think it's mostly immaturity all around.  I mean it's easy to forget how young most of them are.

There is one other major distinction to make between Kevin and Bogi. Kevin is available. Stupid I know but its really important. Over the last 2 years, Bogi has missed 36 more games than Huerter.  This season, statistically, Kevin has a minor edge in efficiency despite the ole eyeball test.  There 36 more games and mildly more efficient for less money. That's my problem with Bogi over Kevin. We can have a Kevin discussion if you want, but I'd like to have the Bogi discussion first.

I wanted to ask Campster or Sothron about the rookies.  Have you heard anything about how they are taking not getting any playing time with the main club?  Does Jalen feel slighted that as a 1stound pick he can't even get minutes on the court when the guys in front of him get injured?  Any resentment towards the coaching staff with either of them?

I don't wanna know the answers to your questions, @Blunt91.  Mainly because I'd imagine there is indeed resentment on some levels.  But I also imagine that'd be easily remedied with some pt so it's expected but not that big a deal.

Kev has been better than Bogi on the floor.  He doesn't always defend WELL but I rarely see him giving poor effort, whereas Bogi gives poor effort routinely.  That weak side 3 is wide open often because he can't be bothered to stop ball watching or marking his guy.  Gallo is atrocious on defense as well and that is not lost on anyone.

I agree that Hunter gets the pass more than anyone, including myself.  He's been objectively bad most of this year but we always make excuses for him (injured, getting back into shape, etc.).

Either way, our defense is a team issue.  One or two guys being good defenders doesn't help much at all in the NBA without complete team buy-in, and that includes trae who plays hard on some possessions and plays lazy/aloof on others.  I think this forum is not representative sample of how the media/fans view the players though.

To me this is just splitting hairs and basically saying 'yeah garland (or whoever) blew by Kev repeatedly but at least he chased him'.   

I know you're talking defense but the passiveness on offense is poor effort too in my opinion.  They were both pretty bad for a while but seems like Bogi has at least flipped a switch on it.  Heurter's just standing around.  He's been put in a position to be a secondary playmaker but it feels like he's lost all confidence in his ability to do that.

Jalen Johnson was told he was a lottery talent then fell to us. He was told by our FO not to expect a lot of minutes his rookie season because our rotation is a playoff rotation and it is set. He is not happy that "not a lot of minutes" has turned into "zero minutes". It didn't get a lot of attention but his name was attached to certain trade talks we had with other clubs. 

So yes, he is frustrated. Cooper is to a lesser extent because the belief there is once Lou retires in the offseason as Lou indicated he would that Cooper would get his minutes and a chance to be the BU PG.
