I don't want to get too negative because we have enough posters that will ignore an All NBA level game from Trae to focus on the only negative in the game. Just glad we won and we are getting guys healthy again.

 

Can't the coach call a player movement type of play?  Nate obviously doesn't have a problem with Trae doing this, and he may be even encouraging it, because it runs the clock down.

What you can't happen when you milk the clock, are open court turnovers and missed shots that lead to 3 on 2 fast breaks.

If we were down by 1, we wouldn't stall it out like that.  People would be moving.  So the end of game ISO has to be co-signed by Nate.

Definitely agree with Trae throwing in the ball.  It's just silly to have him do that, even if he immediately gets the ball back.

And why wasn't AJ in the game?  He shot the ball better than anyone.

 

Once again, good win and a great performance for about 45 minutes.

JC didn't take any threes tonight. Went 5-7 from the field. With CC out he go back to doing what's he's good at.

I was about to post the same thing before I realized that someone else is probably saying it...and that I'm tired of saying it.  This isn't a call for Nate's head.  This is just a statement of fact.  We must make adjustments. 

• It's too late in the season to watch that sort of meltdown with no adjustment
• It's WAY to late in Trae's career to watch that happen
• We have other ball handlers and other shooters, there's no excuse for it
• EVERYONE knows our weaknesses...all the press, the opposing teams, the fans...EVERYONE.  Why is there no adjustment?
• We literally watched Trae struggle to inbound the ball in this same kind of situation and switched up to a taller guy that can also pass...WHY were we doing it again?

You may not have noticed this, but AJ Griffin out played Banchero tonight.

 

 

The 7 rebounds are huge off the bench. 

He was much more aggressive tonight and showed some moves he hasn't shown this season.  He's def getting his "wiggle" back.

Checked the box score.  Back to 9 player rotation.  After his last great game, Big Frank didn't make it.  Guess he must have been #10.  

Whatever happened, Hawks went suddenly cold.  Opponent kept scoring.  Hawks didn't.  

Hope I get Bally Sports fixed before the next game.

Magic started their run after Trae made that half court shot and stared down their player. I guess he didn’t learn anything after that Houston game. But like I said before, the half court bombs are bittersweet bc when he makes them he goes into ball hogging and jacking up wild shots…… just like he did tonight after playing such a great game.

You know Hunter is not going to try to get rebounds.   It's a bad lineup Nate.

I know you said you dropped it but we use the Direct TV on our smart TV to watch cable. I hope you can get the Bally Sports fixed. There are um other options to watch Hawks games that some posters here helped me with last year when I couldn't watch games.

Well I will just say this …maybe that stare down pumped them up a little but in all honesty I don’t personally believe the stare down did anything.

To me…when fultz drove the ball and scored with ease in the paint near the end that’s when the magic smelled blood. I don’t have a shot chart for that last run the magic went on but I’d be surprised if any shots were outside the paint during their 13-0 run. 
 

I can’t blame Trae for easy baskets at the goal! Stare or no stare that’s unacceptable. I understand capela is injured but McMillan has to make adjustments to not allow that so easily OR Landry Fields need to seriously consider signing a true backup defensive center like Whiteside when Capela is out.

 

That last run just showed that Capela is just as important to this team as Trae is but defensively. OO and Collins cannot protect the rim. IF the magic drove more aggressively in the beginning of the game I’m not sure we would have won tonight because McMillan has shown again that without capela he has no answer for paint defense.

Unfortunately for JC “going back to what he’s good at” in terms of scoring is not more impactful than Capela’s screen setting, rebounding, and defense as a rim protector.

I get everyone is happy Collins had an efficient night but honestly the only thing he does better than capela around the goal is finishing and even then on good year Capela isn’t far behind.

 

I want to see Collins let it fly with confidence and get back to being efficient 3pt shooter like other seasons.

This is true... but before he came down and made that bad shot that hit the side of the backboard, he had done the same thing and Dre was coming baseline and stopped and we threw the ball away.
