No box out on the FT, because Quin loves him some Saddiq Bey.

I’m no Quin fan but there’s a good reason he loves Saddiq:

Only Jalen affects score more on the floor, no one hurts it more than Saddiq when off.  Dude is a dog, he’s the least of our worries.  A great defensive team (meaning cornerstones at the 1,3, and 5, Hawks have neither) that could hide him would love to have him.

If you can just get Saddiq to understand where to be on defense.  Still, he plays when the ball is in the air.  We got a whole lot of guys who watch.. he plays...

The real question is what does Quen see in Wes Matthews?

Bring on the apologists like those who say injuries blah blah..

A majority of our players are play and we suck on defense yet again

Honestly can't be surprised at these losses. Trading Collins might have saved us money, but it also made us a weaker team. If this ownership is unwilling to go into the tax, we're not going to be a real contender.

We would have the same record with Collin’s. He wasn’t an impactful enough player to challenge outcomes . The trade wasn’t good but Collin’s was no difference maker to the extent of wins and losses.

2 starters down.  We started WES FREAKIN MATTHEWS....

You know how many games he started in 2022-2023?  0

You know how many games he started in 2021-2022?  14

Over the last 5 years, he has averaged 2.5, 3.4, 5.1, 4.8, and 7.4 ppg...  AND THIS 37 YEAR OLD MAN  STARTED FOR US TONIGHT .....

How TF do you miss that?

I see you complain about a lot of stuff @terrell... How about taking the look at the most obvious thing.. We started a 37 year old man not named Lebron.. who has averaged about 4 ppg over the last 4 years.

You see nothing wrong with that??  OVER THE LAST 5 games he's averaging 13 mpg...  and giving us 3.0 ppg...

You don't see anything wrong with this picture??

That goes back to our depth or lack thereof. Hawks need real functional talent on their bench. Guys who should be able to on a given night provide at least 50% of what a starter gives if he has to start. But when ducking the tax is the rule of law - this is what we get.

Imagine Siakam and JJ as our PF and SF ... who both can rebound, pass, and fly in transition.

Who cares if they're not league average 3 point shooters. They won't be high volume 3 point takers anyway.

As long as they can shoot 50%+ FG, that would be gravy. And we could finally play a regular frontline to offset our smallish backcourt.

This post is tremendously bad.

Collins playing 30 minutes a game during JJ's absence would've gotten us more than 1 win. While Collin's may not be a difference maker, he was at least a good defender which we don't have enough of. Trading him for nothing was set us back. It wasn't a fatal decision, but you don't get better trading solid starters for nothing in return.

I disagree in general. If we had Collins giving us minutes in lieu of Mat(t)hews with JJ unavailable, we'd be in a much better position. There's something to be said about having real NBA players vs not.

Maybe not last year with the injuries but his rebounds and defense would certainly make a difference. .. not to mention his three point shooting.

It's ridiculous. They’re playing All Star Game defense EVERY night.

It’s hard to watch a team that consistently has no chance to stop anyone. It’s not even Christmas yet.
