Official Game Thread: 76ers at Hawks -- GAME 6

We all know it. But at the same time this team has brought the magic an overcome insane odds all season and already twice this series. Is tere any magic left? We'll find out on sunday.

That's usually how this goes. I've never seen, "we'll get the next one", or , "we'll be back next season", come to fruition. Again, not to be a downer. I'm just being honest.

For all those pouting doom and gloom just remember, in their first playoff run this team so far has one less win than the most successful Hawks team in post-season history.

The only reason I have some hope is because of Trae. I know he's an alpha through and through and won't default to a beta when the pressure is on. He actually wants the big moments. If everyone else can get on board and rise to the occcasion, including the coach, the Hawks can pull this off.

LOL ya'll are really ridicolus!  Dump the expectations and enjoy the ride.  Iif we told you at the beginning of this series, it was going to a game 7 with no De'Andre Hunter you'd be elated. 

Don't count this team out.  They will fight on Sunday.  They gave themselves two times to close it out.  They failed this time, but let's not give up on them. 

Trae may have to drop 60, but damn it I believe he can and we might get to the ECF!

No Hunter and essentially no Bogi. This has been a hell of a performance, and there is one game left. Nothing to be ashamed about, Philly is the best team in the Eastern conference sans a healthy Nets team.

Watching Terrence Mann go off, we need a scoring guard that come off the bench and get buckets. We have one in Lou, but he's old and set to retire.

We are 1/6 teams remaining in the playoffs. That’s pretty awesome no matter what happens on Sunday. 

The Jazz just got knocked out.

I love the optimism. I think I'm mentally scarred from being a Georgia sports fan for so long. I also may need to move the goalpost back to where it was when the season started. This team has exceeded expectations. But the ECF was right there man. Watching the Clippers come back on the Jazz at home to make it to the WCF doesn't help either.

Just got back from the game and waiting for hours at the drive thru for some Taco Bell to help with the pain. I still believe and will always believe but damn it hurts

Honestly, there's really only 3 available in free agency.  You may not like the choices

Road teams are 14 - 33 in Game 7s, from 2005 - 2019.  ( 30% )  . . . not counting last year's 2 "road team" wins in the bubble.   If I did, it would be 16 - 35 ( 31% )

Honestly, I thought it would be much worse.

 

The longer the Hawks stick around in this game, the tighter it's going to get for the Sixers.  That team is NOT going to come back on us, if we have a sizeable lead in the 4th quarter.  You see how their crowd reacts whenever the Sixers are down or not playing well.  They're a very negative fan base.  That Philly negative energy is worse than in New York.

The fact that the road team has won 4 of the 6 games in this series, means that the home court has not really been an advantage.  It's all about the players and the adjustments made by coaches.

 

The biggest adjustment I want Nate to make, is to play BIG whenever the Sixers have Embiid - Harris - Simmons in the game.  And don't be so quick to revert to Hack a Ben, if we're only down a few points and actually playing good defense.  And I need Gallo playing 30 minutes, if possible.  This means that Nate has to commit to playing the big lineup.

 

The only good thing about tonight is that the Hawks can make the rationalization that they beat themselves, and not the Sixers beat them.  Tomorrow will be interesting.  A legacy game for Embiid and Trae, with someone secondary probably being the true hero.  I say it's going to be Gallinari.

Not saying I am surprised but Embidd being frustrated with officials and the Kemba trade are bigger news than the Hawks. OK, Mann and the Clippers deserved a ton of press this morning. But ESPN first article with us in it only had Embiid in the title and we are like an afterthought. Trae had 34 and 12and kept us in it till the last seconds just in case they missed it. Plus it is asinine Embiid would complain after all the bias he has received all series.Could have been tossed a couple off times this week. Guess he is stepping up with that Doc style ref leveraging strategy with his press.

With history always in play when Trae steps on the floor am thinking it really may be time for his first 50 and 10 stat in the playoffs. After last night's experience we know we need more than two to score but we still did get to within one score late even playing the way we did. Some solace there though the loss at home severely hurts. Ready for Sunday and hope Trae is rested for it.

@Gray Mule probably ended up with a migraine with that 13 out of 24 stat. It was so painful at the line and influenced the game way too much against us.
