Thoughts.

Glad to get the win. 

Our backcourt was great with the assists.

Murray had a great debut.  His ability to get turnovers were big. He rebounded, controlled the game and defended.  Needs to be more efficient.

Trae was awful from a shooting and shot selection stand point. His defense was uneven but better. His playmaking was god level.

John - Made a lot of people who wanted him gone eat crow. He was fantastic on both ends and I loved to see it.

Hunter - Efficient as hell and played a solid game.  Still would like to see 2 more rebounds from him.  However, offensively, he was much improved with his decision making and ball handling.

Capela - It seems that thumb is affecting him more than being let on. 

OO - Was solid and I liked his post game.

JJ - Was very solid for his first real minutes in a game. He is so much better on the defensive end.  

The Holiday brothers were solid. AH stood out to me with his energy and defense.

All and all, there is a ton to work on, but the team fought hard and got the win.

There’s clearly been a focus on mid range shooting in practice and I’m here for it.   Good mid range shooting usually leads to good FT shooting and Vice versa.  Check that at 83% tonight.

DeJounte has the voice and playing style of a leader.  That boy stuffed the sheet like Santa stocking.  I see his numbers last season weren’t a fluke he’s a premier pass hopping and ball stopping player.  Excuse me as I change my avatar, my bad Delon.

I want to say Hunter is turning the corner!!  I'm glad he's no longer settling for the three but actually going inside and taking the middy...

That's going to make all the difference in the world!

Really dont think that's sustainable against better teams. Defense win the game but a better team isn't going to be quite as loose with the ball and also shoot 9-35 from 3. 

Hawks have to play AJ or get Dre and JC more involved on the perimeter imo. 7 3s in a game isn't going to cut it.

I think we shouldn't put up as many threes.    The midrange shot is there and we can Derozen this thing.   Let Bogi be the sniper.. AJ too.   but focus should be on being more efficient on the scoring in...  It's sustainable.

I knew this would be their toughest game of the 1st 5 but you can't get destroyed on the boards like that!  I did like the defense though!  The steals make a huge difference now lets clean up those defense boards next game

I thought I had a high bar lol.  He did everything a two way combo guard could possibly do: cut basket, blocked jumper, dunked, double digit assists, middy, three, brought it up, played off, passing lane steals, on ball steals, goddamn!  Only thing I didn’t see was a screen assist and he might’ve done that too hell.

A lot of good, some not so good, but all in all considering this is the very first game for a squad that is very different from last year, the fact they already have pretty damn solid chemistry is the most important part. JC about to have a monster season for the Hawks with all of the open floor space he will be operating with this year. He was the player of the game, both him and Hunter looked aggressive and decisive all game long and that is EXACTLY what we need to see. Good to see that JJ will be a part of the rotation I think he is going to have his moments too. Not a lot to complain about, far from a perfect game, but on a day where we couldn't really hit a three we still put up an effortless 117 points on good efficiency. Defense already looks much, much improved and credit to the Rockets young talent for keeping this close.

They mentioned on air that Dejounte was the first Hawk since SPUD WEBB IN 85!!!!! @cam1218 to double double with points and assists in his Hawk debut. That’s pretty cool! 
 

@Diesel Agree on Hunter turning the corner, much more patient, our whole team was patient.

@JayBirdHawk Your boy is a bad boy. That stat line and the huuuge steal when we were slumping in the 3rd. We haven’t had a momentum changer like him in a while and he can effect the entire game on the defensive end, 5 steals in game 1, that’s insane.

0 turnovers is not inefficient

Lol..you left out where I basically said everything else was great.  

He and Trae can be special and I have high standards for both.

Trae is allowed to be inefficient if he's taking good shots. He was forcing some things in the first quarter and I couldn't stand it.

Again, Murray and Collins were the stars of the game today.
