Trae’s nuclear first half was the obvious difference but also giving a shout out to Quinn’s focus on drawing more charges.  12 steals (4 by the starting backcourt) and 7 blocks also loomed large.  Another high quality grind out win versus a solid defense with a size advantage.

Great comeback win. Honestly shocked we pull that one out in the end. So many great defensive plays at the end of the game as the Magic just gave the game away.

Trae with a monster game. Jalen Johnson showing some very, very bitter Raptor fans why he wasn't traded to Toronto.

lol I'm done with this trash ass media. I would say national media, but NBA gametime isn't big enough to be considered National.  All they are doing is talking about how Trae is basically selfish and can't get his teammates going when he has it going.  

Any other star drops 41 on good efficiency they'd be praised.  They also said he was doing cardio on defense, but tonight I thought he still showed more effort and played good positional basketball. He wasn't the main reason the defense was bad tonight.

Good game from Trae..

He made 3 out of his last 13 shots though.

But he played well and took care of the ball for the most part..

Definitely felt like a home game, that crowd was very pro-Atlanta.

Hopefully the NBA notices and stops sleeping on this market.

That antiquated way of thinking we are a bad sports city needs to go in the trash, Atlanta clearly has international appeal.

You take the win for sure, but the hero ball has got to stop.  For all the hoopla about the three from Murray, the Hawks lose this game without the defense from Clint, Johnson, and Hunter in the clutch.

No one hates him man. He just plays hero ball too much and in reality some of us know he cannot lead us to a ring. This team just isnt built for it this year or next with the same roster. Thats a reality you will have to accept.

 

He's still a chucker, 5-15 3pt, 25 shots and we inched by a beat up Magic team with his best performance. Cmon man. And yes Trae thinks this whole Mexico trip was about him but he put on a show

Yeah +/- loves the kid.  His defensive impact metrics are better than I thought they’d be playing starter’s minutes.  I think a deep film analysis of his footwork on the perimeter, his positioning as a help side defender, and his boxing out would reveal some pleasant surprises: you can’t have a consistently high +/- without them.  He also helps defend every position at some point during a possession.

He doesn’t have the great 2:1 assist to turnover ratio he had last season but he still has a positive cumulative effect with his passing: rarely a mistake.  His emergence is the story of this good start to the season.  Tyrese Maxey is playing out of his mind but Jalen shouldn’t be too far behind for MIP.

And while the crowd was pro Atlanta, the officiating was definitely pro Orlando all night.  In short, the officiating was terrible.
