That would not be funny since that means the Hawks lose to a Julius Randleess Knicks

Also, they are finally starting to notice what we have for years.  Trae Young is that dude.  The title is clickbait but the analysis is solid.

This is an interesting stat from the video I posted above.  Trae Young has created 204 points.  That the second most all time for a player in his first four playoff games.  We are witnessing something special here folks!

Against the league's #3 defense, playing half of those games in the supposed most hostile environment. Best performance of the first round IMO.

He's created points at that rate since the middle of his rookie year.  This type of production from him didn't just happen overnight.  I know we Hawks fans aren't surprised at this.  When you talk about the 50 ppg creation club, it's really only 3 names.  James Harden, "that dude in Dallas whose neck is hurting", and Trae Young.

Mike Greenberg said this morning that Trae Young has turned into a name that you knew, into a guy who has become a star.

The guy was on the All-Star team as a starter last season.  The guy averaged 29 ppg - 9 asst last year.  That's Harden / Westbrook type production.  The guy was averaging 25 and 9 at the end of this season.  Just becoming a star?

And just think.  The only reason why his ppg averages have dipped since December this season, was because the refs stopped giving him shooting fouls when he gets hit. 

But because he's balled out against the Knicks, in a series in which everyone in New York has watched, he's now just becoming a star because YOU in NYC had to admit that he is a star?  It's laughable. 

If this guy was playing with the Knicks, you wouldn't be able to shut the cable/online media up about how great he is.  He would be held up like they do Walt Frazier.

The Knicks are like a run heavy football team with a great defense, that uses their offense to keep their defenders fresh.  Think of the Knicks like Navy football.  You know exactly what they're running.  You know they're going to possess the ball.  ( Knicks were 6th in turnovers, by the way ).  But can you stop it?  And you have to watch out for the pass, because they can do that too when you least expect it.

But that Navy offense isn't going to be able to come back on most days, if they fall down by 10 or more points.  The same goes for the Knicks.  It took extremely cold shooting + a fatal coaching mistake by Nate, for them to come back from 15 down in Game 2.  Otherwise, this series would be OVER.

That's why Randle's methodical and consistent ISO offense was so important to their team success.  If he has it going, he's normally scoring with under 10 seconds left on the shot clock and he's either keeping the Knicks in striking range, or they have the lead.  Randle is the option QB that keeps the offense guessing.  Rose is the fullback that moves the chains when everyone is focused on the QB ( Randle ).

If his supporting cast are making 3s, that makes their methodical offense even more lethal.  Knicks were 3rd in the league in 3FG%, but only 21st in the league in 3 PT makes.  When they make 3s, it energizes their defense on the other end.  That's the equivalent of a Navy pass that they convert downfield, when you are so concentrated on stopping their running attack.

 

Now the Knicks fans realize that they need guys who not only can catch and shoot, but can create their own shot if need be.  They also understand that ISO Randle is not good for the playoffs.  Because if he's stopped or slowed down, it hurts all facets of their game.

That last clip was exactly what I was talking about during the game when it happened.  Look how huge of a hustle play Capela made to tip that ball to Bogi, who didn't even hesitate to shoot the 3.

To me, those 3 possessions brought the game back into focus, and kept the Knicks from going on a potential big run.  The Knicks would've had the ball down 5, with the potential to go up by 7 or 8.  Instead, we score 9 in a row and go up by 4 points.
